You are right, it's not only in America, it's in every country in world.
I am not sure why you are so surprised about taxes, if you don't want to pay tax don't drive car.
My apologies if the message wasn't very clear...it's not the TAXES per se, it's the PAPERWORK and the hassle...in general, look at the paperwork involved with anything regulated by the government. Ironically their job is dealing with paperwork, so they in effect, they create their own job security.
So it's not the amount you have to pay to own a car, it's how it's all TACKED on...
For example in my state, they got rid of the county stickers, only to bring them back a few year later...they did the same with the property tax.
They are all over the place, I want it simple...as citizens we don't get paid to shuffle paper.
