operation cancelled - why?

Hi,
what would the cause of a cancelling transaction (it says Warning! Error encountered during contract execution [Out of gas] ) when i try to send 1 eth, but my wallet is 10 eth?

How can i get back my eth?? is my eth lost in the blockchain? how do i do now?
