Man, I have been trying to get my Vapor-X R9 280x 3G GDDR5 card mining for a few days ago but it wont begin.

Im running xubuntu-16.04.2-desktop-amd64  Maybe I need an older version?

I have amdgpu-pro-17.10-414273 running for Drivers. Maybe I need an older version?

Here is the result when i start the script

OpenCL initializing...

AMD Cards available: 1
GPU #0: Tahiti, 2985 MB available, 16 compute units
POOL/SOLO version
Cannot build OpenCL program for GPU 0
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Any ideas would be great!

Try xubuntu 14, should be able to install the proprietary radeon driver through the repositories.  Should get your hardware working, dunno about your mining software, what are you using?

install fglrx driver, while amdgpu (pro) work for gcn 1 cards, opencl wont!

If you're in a hurry, install ubuntu 14.04 and proprietary fglrx drivers through ubuntu additional drivers utility.
