First off, all input is greatly valued and appreciated. From the top:
1. I had about 0.27 BTC in a Bitcoin Core wallet at the time of the split. Several hours after the split I moved the Bitcoins to a LocalBitcoins wallet. Will I still be able to get my Bitcoin Cash despite these circumstances?
2. I created two wallet.dat files: one before the split when the Core wallet had Bitcoin, and one after the split when the wallet was empty. Which one should I import into a new wallet?
3. At this point, what wallets (*especially* desktop/PC wallets) are known to deposit Bitcoin Cash into your account upon importing of the wallet.dat file?

This is a very confusing subject, but I wish to acquire the ~$100 (which may very well accrue) associated with clearing the fog.

Library's closing, will post more questions ITT when I get home.

1. if your transaction is confirmed in any block after 478558 and if their replay protection worked then yes you still have 0.27 BCC waiting to be claimed.
2. the wallet that used to contain your 0.27BTC and remember to not use that wallet ever again.
3. see their website and don't trust the binaries much. and install them on a separate computer if you want to be safe.

Thank you for your input. I currently do not have a smartphone nor a second computer. One thing I can do, however, is wipe the hard drive (there's almost nothing on this computer anyway) and create a second wallet. This brings up a fourth question: can Bitcoin Cash wallets be backed up and saved onto a USB drive?
