Hi Folks, What are all factors that one should consider while investing in cryptocurrencies (like transaction fee if that's one)? Please put some light on this.

The main factors are basically two. One is the trading volume which you can get from coinmarketcap website and the second one is the market cap. A decent amount of market cap is sign of a good currency and also if the trading volume is high, the price of that currency is most likely to go up. There are few other factors as well but these are main two factors to look for. Higher trading volume means that a lot of people are interested in that currency  so it is mainly a popularity indicator. The more popular a crypto coin is, the more higher the price can go. Also if you see a sudden increase in the trading volume of a particular currency, it means, the price can go up quickly and you can make some quick profit by entering at a cheaper price. Coinmarketcap website is a good resource for these info.

Hi Folks, What are all factors that one should consider while investing in cryptocurrencies (like transaction fee if that's one)? Please put some light on this.

Transaction fee should be the factor you consider least when investing in cryptocurrencies.

Your intent is to invest? This means that you don't plan to transact in an out of the currency or use the currency to pay for things. If you're not conducting transactions you won't incur transaction fees.

Here's what you should consider:
  • If investing in a coin other than Bitcoin, what features does the coin provide that makes it different and beneficial in a way that Bitcoin doesn't?
  • What's the expectation for the target coin to gain greater adoption going forward?
  • What's the current price? (Lower price offers greater leverage for future growth)
  • What wallet options are available to you? How easily can you get out of the coin into any other coin or fiat if the market in that coin starts to fall?

Which coins are you looking at?

Something I'd look for is, does the cryptocurrency have useful features and are people actually using those features? ETH, for instance, is considered one of the top altcoins because it's got the smart contract thing and businesses are actually using it as the base of their ICO tokens.

Tips for ico's:
  • Look at the idea itself and read the whitepaper
  • Research team members and look at their linkedin
  • Do they have an existing platform? Does it work? If not, then it's a high gamble because you're waiting on product delivery
  • Join their channels like telegram or discord to ask questions
  • What is the function/purpose of the token?
  • Market cap

My current favorite is unikoingold. Satisfies all of my criteria and is ending in a day or so. Definitely recommend taking a look.

I think the factor to watch out for is the coin you want to buy if the volume of coins in 24 hours is very large or small, if there are many chances that the coin has a lot of enthusiasts to invest your money there. If you look at transaction fees, you can use poloniex to store your bitcoin and altcoin because the price is very low or you put it in coinbase (only suggestions for both places). If you want to invest in large quantities choose a bitcoin or token in pre sale but before buying see who is working on the project and whether to get into your mind the future of the coin.

Make sure there is an active market in the coin. Check on exchanges how many buy and sell orders are listed on site. Volume is main factor. No volume means no sellers and more important no buyers.

hi there OP i think aside from the transaction fee you also needed to consider the risk and what would be your style from your trading activities,
better to understand the market first before placing your entry since aside from transaction fee and the trading fee you also needs to learn more
about the project that you will be supporting.

I would say that it should have a pretty solid foundation and something that is innovative. A lot of cryptocurrencies are just copies of the old ones and those should not be something you should consider. Definitely you should check them out and do you due diligence because that's something any investor should do. Of course that would be some diamonds in the rough, but likely before you find those diamonds it would take you a pretty long time.

Features that really matter when it comes to investing in cryptocurrencies:
1) Volume of transactions in their Blockchain
2) See what kind of algorithm they are working
3) The development team (Core)
4) And the amount of money (supply) they have to offer.
Personally these are the characteristics that I consider more relevant when making an investment with cryptocurrencies. I hope they are of your help.
