Internet connection is not very important.
For GPU mining the profits always change. you should check the difficulty and the price all the time to decide the coin. Nowadays i mine eth and musicoin.

equihash algo now is very good for nvidia, that is the best that you can mine, but new shit coin are launched every day, so see the ANN section if you want to mien somethign that has more profit
