bollywood celebrities embrace bitcoin

Bollywood news recently reported celebrities are going bonkers for bitcoin. Famous Indian entertainers have been tweeting and commenting positively about bitcoin. They appear to find the currency fascinating, and see its potential for future growth. Some of the celebrities include, Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra, R. Madhavan, Huma Qureshi Neha Dhupia, Vir Das, Nargis Fakhri, and Prachi Desai, according to a recent Bollywood news article.

Indian Bitcoin Boom Has Enticed Bollywood Big Shots

Bollywood celebs have likely gotten attracted to bitcoin because of its explosion in India. After the Indian government instigated demonetization efforts, alternative forms of currency have spread like wildfire, especially bitcoin. There are now multiple digital exchanges based out of India. The Bollywood News site explained:

"  There are several online portals in India where one can buy and sell Bitcoins. Some of the popular portals are, Coinsecure, Zebpay, Unocoin, BTCXIndia. According to MSN, there are approximately one million Bitcoin users or enthusiasts in India alone, from all walks of life.  "

I think for these people Bitcoin and crypto in general is more something they see as a fashion statement, rather than something they highly appreciate because of its features and decentralization. It has been some sort of a trend, where all kinds of well known people and financial experts share their opinion on Bitcoin. But hey, if this helps making Bitcoin gain more ground in a massive country as India, I can only look at it positively. I just hope this won't be one of their periodical hypes.

In addition, with all of the market analyst and financial experts are putting bitcoin as a good investment platforms, those people who has bunch of money loves to invest and I think they saw bitcoin was a good opportunity for them specially that you don't need to be an 'expert' on the market. Just buy and invest hold on to your wallet, check the price from time to time and it you think the profit is good then sell it and put it in your exchanges wallet to convert to fiat. Rinse and Repeat. We all know as Hollywood or Bollywood superstar, you are paid quite big amount so I'm guessing bitcoin for them will likely be a investment.

I doubt it has any real or lasting impact. I recall reading how Ashton Kutcher raved big about Bitcoin years ago but that didn't seem to encourage teeny boppers to own any. Here's a quote from him in 2013, courtesy Google: "I think the fact that you can buy drugs and ammo with it is actually (a) validator of the currency itself."

Ok. So its probably that those Hollywood or Bollyhood stars as just here for the hype and riding again with bitcoin popularity or are just in for the investment or maybe just a fashion as richardsNY points out. But for as long as they are pouring cash to the bitcoin ecosystem, I think we its all good. But the thing with India is that they are very much inclined to technology so this kinda make sense for some Bollyhood stars who have friends in the IT sector that encourages them to learn and invest into bitcoin.

Here's a tweet from Shilpa Shetty Kundra
"Adding “Crypto Currency for Beginners” to my reading list! Thanks @amitbitcoin for enlightening me on Bitcoin investing #amitbhardwaj"

Bollywood celebs just want to portray their image as some highly intellectual finance geek typo person. All this might be done to grab some eyeballs, some cheap publicity stunt or maybe the promotion of Amit bhardawaj's newly released book.

I don't agree with you. They are just trying to raise awareness about this growing market of cryptocurrency which has the potential of changing the way we look at transactions today. In India, we do require their support to raise awareness regarding Alt coins and BTC.

celebrities are quick to realise that bitcoin both in India and across the globe,
has a bright future ahead,so they are both trying to invest properly and increasing adoption rates
since they are role models,in most cases, so people would listen to their advice
it is good for bitcoin when one of the most populated countries of the world is about to legalise it
and have Bollywood stars to promote it

Their is still not any confirmation of that India is going to legalize Bitcoin but their are talks going inside the government to how to implement it. Bollywood stars speaking about bitcoin wont affect that much to bitcoin as they are not giving fully support but they are just talking about bitcoin

This is just one of the many signs that soon Bitcoin can be the big thing in India maybe even larger than life comparable to other big names in consumer products and services. With Bitcoin poised to be recognized in India (if it is not already is) and its appeal in the entertainment industry, I am sure that the potential of this cryptocurrency in India where there is a huge population who are ready for innovation can be so appealing.

Famous entertainers can be a big swing towards Bitcoin as we all know that celebrities can easily catch the attention of the common people and there are many people who are ready to emulate their admired actors and actresses.  This is just like endorsing Bitcoin to the masses.

India is the next big market for Bitcoin and I understand that India has a good number of young people who are tech-savvy and this can be where Bitcoin can be planted and grow. Right now, India remains to be the top BPO destination and this industry is employing thousands of employees...now imagine if Bitcoin can penetrate this group of people who has the money and possibly the interest for Bitcoin!
