I signed up for an account on Bitstamp, but it seems like I can only transfer to Ripple if my Ripple account is already funded? Is this correct? Also, how does Bitstamp convert between Bitcoins and Ripple?

I believe that's correct. You'll need someone on Ripple to send you some xrp before you can transfer money from bitstamp. Bitstamp does not convert between xrp and btc. Once you transfer btc or usd from bitstamp, you'll have to trade with someone for xrp on ripple. Make sense?

I don't know that I am willing to give up so easily on such a well funded, well advised digital currency.

@acne...

what about ripple sucks? I've been trying to research it as best I can - and so far, I've read everything from it being a gov-controlled conspiracy to try and regulate the free currency market...to it being "The next Bitcoin". Regardless, any info you have is appreciated.

Thanks!
