How do oraclize url queries exactly work?

As I understand oraclize url query fetches url and store it content in storage of oraclize smart contract. When I call url query in my smart contract their library only gets content from storage.

But how exactly they do that? At the time of my query url content must already be in their storage. Are they regulary feching url and saving it in storage?
