Electron Cash Difficulties - Help Needed

Hello,

Not sure what's going on but...
When I tried to redeem my BCH today, the wallet crashed on me; Windows 7 SP1.
Now, I can't even open the wallet at all, even restarting did no help.

Here is what happened:
I installed the wallet as you would any other Electrum based wallet.
All was well, It was synchronizing, then it stopped, showed my balance but some transactions showed as not verified.
Then it started synchronizing again to oblivion, then it wouldn't stop synchronizing.
So I closed the wallet thinking it just needed a bit of a kick but that did nothing good.

Well, this wallet doesn't restart like any other wallet I use... I have to use the original download file; which isn't uncommon in crypto.
There is no actual software that you can remove from within the control panel.
I restored from seed if that matters...

So when I get to the part where it asks to enter a password, after I enter it, EC stops responding and crashes.

Would it be because ElectrumWallet is on 2.9.3 and ElectronCash is still on 2.9.2?

I'm no wallet expert; quite a n00b with them still but... shouldn't EC also be updated?
Though if history taught me one thing about Electrum is that, not being up to date can cause all types of headaches.

So I closed the wallet, restarted my computer but still to no avail.

Help?

when a crash happens you should provide a debug report or something and i have no idea how to do it for a python app under windows

what you can try in order to fix your issue is this:
go to
C:\Users\{user name here}\AppData\Roaming\Electron cash

make a backup of your "config" file then go to
...\wallets
and take a backup of your wallet too. now delete both files from here and restart Electron cash and restore your wallet from seed again, this time skip giving it a password. make sure you have connected to a "bitcoin cash server" this time.

Thanks for your reply and sorry for my dicking around but both my Per. Life and Bis. Life are overly busy right now.

Pardon my poor terminology; there is no bug/crash report.
The second I click Next after entering my password, it freezes; Program is Not Responding.
Prompting the need to x out of it to shut it down since it does nothing but limbo.

See, I was looking at that very folder and thought of deleting the whole Electron Cash folder and starting from scratch.
I will backup the files you speak of, delete and try install again.
The thought did not once cross my mind that a password could cause problems; though I get it would make things simpler.
My passwords are usually rather long too.

If this fails, I should be able to start over on another computer though, right?
I could use the computer where my empty Electrum wallet is located now.
Though I would prefer avoiding this right now...

Just 1 confirmation yet but it's all I need and from what I read, BCH is harder to mine.

I was on a BCH server yesterday, no doubt about it but being on auto-select, likely threw me off of a BCH server since there are Electrum servers in the list also.
Therefore, I would say it's a good idea to chose "manually select" server from the get go and pick it early.
Which I just had to right click on any server to use any server I chose but I never had to change a server in a crypto wallet before.
It was a learning experience for me.
