No because it is not designed to become an internet money, neither the community nor the developers and creators have this kind of goal or vision.
Yes, I also agree with your opinion, the purpose of making ethereum is not for that, they have a bigger goal in the field of technology that will bring a new breakthrough in the world of technology. But in my opinion, they want create a community use cryptocurrency for market online. User can buy any things as FIAT and not have any worry about the risk get scam ...

It seems to me, the secret of Ether's success is that the Ether platform gives the possibility of creating new coins. Interest in new coins is the engine of interest in the Ether. Look at the facts - Ether is already Internet money.

Im not quite sure that Ethereum will become an internet money, but Bitcoin can be one. the good thing about Ethererum is you can build other coin using their platform... next, investor and other miners will not agree with that because government will pass a bill for taxation of each one of your coin when it happen.

I suppose anything could be used as a currency, even if that was not the intention. Like how prisoners trade cans of fish or cigarrettes as currency. If Ethereum has the majority of the market share, then it COULD be the de facto curency.
Realistically, I'm thinking that Bitcoin will reign as the top internet currency in the future.

I remember reading about that maybe last year? Cigarettes are now the second most valuable currency in prison. Ramen noodles are now top, and especially in USA and Europe actually! ETH may never reach de facto of Bitcoin but it could have its own niche, the way Monero has a niche. ETH the investment currency maybe.

Bitcoin is deflating coin, Eth is inflating. That is the main difference. But Eth will be a great platform for ICO I think.

Actually, Ethereum was basically designed as a token for smart contracts, not as internet money.

Eventually it will, the diverse usage of Ethereum is too wide. so basically it will be commerical and finance giants currencies to manipulate the market.

It could happen, because very many ico projects are using ethereum, but it would still be very difficult to be "internet money"

Ethereum initial purpose is/was to help other devs build smart contract applications on the eth blockchain and not to aid the payment system. People opt to use it for payments because of its fast block times which makes it convenient for everyone to use but when it comes to internet money we have other crypto coins that are more suited to be used for this purpose.

Ethereum will stay as is, a platform. Bitcoin will always and forever be the internet money.
Agree with this but since many new altcoin will born every years, it will makes the Ethereum price increase though, even not high like the bitcoin price. Actually the project itself Ethereum is really success and it is an internet money for the dev of ethereum lol. What i'm sure is the longevity of Ethereum will be long.
