Hey everyone, I was looking at the Avalon bulk chip order bitcoin receiving address:
https://blockchain.info/address/1FGAftzSTztFSB8LMwsrdCKTyqGY6zr3sU

this address alone has 55,462 BTC.

Assuming about 782.1 BTC/batch of 10000. (which is being a little conservative, as I am sure really large orders-like some of the 5000 BTC ones-are probably getting some kind of discount)

This comes out to be approximately 71 batches of 10,000 avalon chips sold. resulting in a massive creation within the next few months of a total of 204.48 TH on the bitcoin network. Some of these may already be operational, but I am willing to bet that there is at least 2 or 3 times more hashing power (probably another 500 TH) coming online within the next year.

It is not unreasonable that the bitcoin network will increase in difficulty nearing the 100 million mark within the next year. this is probably really good news for the security and value of bitcoin.

You're forgetting the other coins.

I'm gonna assume that at least 50TH are gonna end up on TRC. That's what I'd do, anyway.

Plus, once the diff goes higher, most gpu miners might end up selling them off, leveling the overall hash rate (a tiny bit).

- I do translations! PM me if interested -

50 TH on TRC would be insane.... I don't think TRC will end up being worth anywhere near that much.

200TH only? That's not that much, around the same as BFL has chips queued for. But as they aren't the only players, I think 100M difficulty will be easily broken by October.

yeah, 204 isn't much in the big game. I would also like to point out that this probably doesn't include the actual avalon miners that they have been shipping out. Just the DIY stuff people have been making.

FYI

204 TH/sec from Avalon chips
0 to 250+ TH/Sec from BFL (only limited by wafers, not by orders.  something like 500+ TH/sec are ordered, but they will run out of chips from their 75 wafers first.)
262 TH/sec from ASICMiner
100 TH/sec from btcgarden (another ASICMiner style comp out of china, just posted today.  legit)

so at least another 566TH/sec, plus the what, 100Th/sec we have now.  At least 666TH/sec.  With BFL could break 1 Petahash/sec.

I forget how much Avalon Batch #2/3/4? adds.  Maybe another 100 Th/sec

Don't count your TH/s until they have arrived, in boards and mining.

Nobody is counting their own TH/sec.  We're counting the full sum of the network.  We're counting other people's TH/sec.  That is what really matters.

The Avalon factory could (in theory) burn to the ground. Other things could delay the delivery.
But I think the OP's point was that the ~200 TH had been ordered, not delivered.

Bitcoin is backed by the full faith and credit of YouTube comments.
