I did install ubuntu in this computer and am ready to connect GPUs on it? I'm thinking just AMD RX Series, I'm still unsure which coin to mine though.
I was thinking of ETC and XMR. I'm very much inexperience to this which I have been asking lately about mining.

This computer has the newest Ubutnu LTS already, and once I connect the GPU, which software should I install to keep mining? Or do I have to buy the USB whcih as the OS on it to mine?

Which coin are you mining for it?

I am set to mine more which I have planned to have a bigger farm, but I have to know whether it can support me which is why this is a test. So if ever I can see the earnings is enough, I might just sell the tokens I got from bounties for more devices.

These are the several mining software which i can recommend.

01.MinePeon: Open source and may need WinDisk32Imager.

02.EasyMiner: A GUI based miner for Windows, Linux and Android. EasyMiner acts as a convenient wrapper for the built in CG; BFGminer softwares. It auto configures your Bitcoin miners and provides performance graphs to for easy visualization of your Bitcoin mining activity.

03.BFGMiner: A modular ASIC, FPGA, GPU and CPU miner written in C, cross platform for Linux, Mac, and Windows including support for OpenWrt-capable routers.

04.CGMiner: This is a multi-threaded multi-pool GPU, FPGA and ASIC miner with ATI GPU monitoring, (over)clocking and fanspeed support for bitcoin and derivative coins.

05.EasyMiner: A GUI based miner for Windows, Linux and Android. EasyMiner acts as a convenient wrapper for the built in CG; BFGminer softwares. It auto configures your Bitcoin miners and provides performance graphs to for easy visualization of your Bitcoin mining activity.

And keep remember to start mining you need hardware (ASIC for Bitcoin and GPU for other cryptocurrencies) and electricity. Setting up a mining rig is expensive and requires cheap electricity so instead people join mining clouds.

Hope this helps. Thanks.

that will depend on what GPU you will use

AMD or NVIDIA's

there are sweet algo's on each type of GPU

some online calculators will give a hint on what coins they could greatly mine

Consider the future of mining

new hardwares are coming up

Also with machines competitions as it greatly affects difficulties and profitability

GPUs, ASICs, FPGA

Believe me if you are only beginner in mining then use Windows and software like Claymore miner or Phoenix miner for Ethereum. Also try to mine Monero with Claymore or XMRig miners. It is easier to use Windows for mining and it usually gives better hashrate. After some time you will have some experience and you will be able to use Linux for mining.

Hey Cabron!

Picking a coin can be tricky.  You can go high risk and shoot for the projects that sound like they're offering a great product, but you'd be accepting the fact that what you earn could go up in smoke if you plan to hold.  Or you can go with a higher market cap coin.  What's your objective - to hold some bags of coins and pray for riches, or to play it safe and continuously earn over time?

Once you can answer that, you should be able to narrow down your searches.  And then you can narrow down the miner to use.

Operating system choice comes down to where you feel comfortable.  Regardless of the operating system you choose, keeping your rig online 24/7 is important.  Downtime == no profit == long time till you recover your investment.

I'm a developer on the project, so naturally, I recommend Foreman for monitoring.  It works on both Windows and Linux, it's open-source, and you don't have to worry about giving us control of your rigs - we are minimally invasive while other products want free reign.

Best of luck in your hunt!
