By now, people create coins, mine them, and pray that one day they can sell them on some trading platform and become millionaire. But, has anyone thinked about that, if these coins really solve some problems in real life? Besides BTC and LTC, at least Ripple, mastercoin, bitshare and NXT are trying to solve some problems. Except these, there are already too many useless copies. Could people only focus on useful coins?

As long as they're profitable to mine and pump and dump then they'll still be created.

Here are some thoughts. It's kind of frustrating, isn't it?

It depends. Only if altcoins are in some way better than bitcoin. Then, they have the right to took place. For example Nxtcoin is completely new, but completely different, it has new and unique source code, not just copied from Bitcoin and changed a bit. And it work on completely new principle. Now is the time when revolution has started and it's time to see which coin will win it. It may be not Bitcoin, if it is not the best. Bitcoin will fail if quantum copmuters make further development as then it will be able to get hacked.

Alot of people make coins to make easy profit.
Most of them will die eventually, maybe some will continue to grow like bitcoin.

What about creating a trollcoin?  Grin Lots of people would buy it just because it sounds funny...

don't just follow the herd, get in the game and think outside the box, there are innovative coins being introduced all the time.

BattlecoinXchange.com being the first one that comes to mind. Cool

I think that kind of depends what your intentions are Smiley
For miners and traders yes we do need them.

But for everyday use i don't really see the point. Webshops don't have all the coins available as payment methodes
