Hi,

I'm currently deciding if I should buy a rig or just invest my money into coins. I'd love to build a rig just for fun so I tend to do that.

My question is if you would go AMD or NVIDIA at this point? Everything is very expensive, but I could get 4x RX470 and 2 RX 480 for $1800 which is not that bad for Europe I guess.
These:
2x Sapphire RX 470 8GB Nitro+
2x Sapphire RX 470 8GB Nitro
2x MSI RX 480 8GB Gaming X

The NVIDIA cards are way more expensive and don't get a huge amount of more hashrate. But also I heared of the h/s drop of about 35% by DAG 160-180. Is that correct and would you therefore go for NVIDIA?

Would you consider spending more on 1080tis and going for just 3 cards?

Thank in advance

Everyone will have a different opinion based on their experiences. My experiences.. nvidia always works. It's so easy to setup and overclock. I would get eight 1060's before I did 3 ti's.

i have a single rx580 in my desktop that I mine with,  and 2 Nvidia GTX 980's  and 12 Nvidia GTX 1060's  I like nvidia because its generally a lower voltage card. and because nvoc is so awesome.

NVIDIA video cards are more versatile, they lose a little in the Ethash and CriptoNight algorithms, but they are considerably ahead of other algorithms.

Also at the moment, prices for AMD are very high.

The best choice is GTX1060 3g, if you mining not only the Ethash

Thank you all for your input. What would be acceptable prices for AMD in your opinion?
I'd pay $270 on the 470 and $320 on the 480, both 8GB. Nvidias would be a lot more expensive

Hi dude !

Few week ago i buy 12 Nvidia 1060 3Gb GPU, after few week of mining on Ethash i can tell you it's very great cards, easy to overclock, low power usage, i make between 23-25 per cards, at the wall by rig of 6 cards i have 800w !

i have few rigs on AMD too, rx 570 and rx 480, for AMD my hashrate is between 28-30 Mhs on Ethash, on a rig of 6 amd cards i make between 950-1000W at the wall.

to reply to your question, i mine from 1 years and it's very profitable and with GPU miner you have some choose on what coin you want to mine Smiley
