Okay so this may be a completely dumb and stupid question, but how the hell do I use github on linux to download things? I'm not a computer person at all which is why I ask. I'm about to start mining and this is a basic thing I know I'm going to NEED to know. Like I've tried before to use github and I just have no idea how to attack it. There's usually so many files in there, and the source code, I just simply don't know what I'm even trying to get out of it.  If someone could walk me through it, that'd be great!

Try looking at this guide

https://help.github.com/articles/set-up-git

I use the Eclipse SDK and it has the ability to checkout Git projects. If you're interested in using a GUI for development I would suggest you check that out as well.
