I am thinking about moving my S7 and redoing some wiring to clean things up. Is there a proper way to shut it down? Or do I just throw the power switch? Will it automatically start mining again once I turn the power back on?

The firmware is read only so you cant really mess anything up by just unplugging it. There is no special shutdown needed.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

Unless you factory reset it (by physically pushing the button on the back), all settings stay they same and you can simply turn it on and off.
