It's normal before and still sometimes happening, there's a congestion so if someone is not too patient to wait for his transaction to get confirmed then pay better fees. It's the only way to avoid the slow confirmation of the miners, once you have set your fees to higher priority you'll be in the queue immediately and wait for a couple of minutes that will be confirmed. Sometimes paying higher fees is worth it when you're in a rush.

Yes transactions are ensuing pending October 25 and so it is expected that there are going to be many unconfirmed transactions  and so i will urge all to be patient rather than take the advantage to ridicule bitcoin at this time.

Unlike before there are almost hundred thousands of unconfirmed transactions and always monitor them at https://blockchain.info/unconfirmed-transactions but today it's quite a good volume so there's no need to worry about it. Just don't let yourself spend a small amount of fee if you want to save yourself from slow transactions so don't forget about that.
