Ethereum Hardfork: Little Debate is dangerous!

Some news sites just reported that Ethereum Hardforked without much debate as if it's a good thing.
I would rather stick with things with strong hot and tranparent debate than ones that are almost secret but using "little debate" as a cover. 
The lack of debate could even mean no crypto lover is actually interested in the coin?

What debate ? The "old" chain will be wasted. It's not a hardfork like ETH and ETC, which philosophy baking ETC was strong enough to give ETC a real value / mining power. You can't debate about this, I mean, it's an ETH improvement and no controversial features are added.
