WHO are the top Bitcoin developers and minds?

Bitcoin is under a lot of public pressure this month and any project is only as good as the people working on it.  I have HEARD from folks like Trace Mayer that some of the smartest people on earth are dedicating their time to developing the bitcoin blockchain for the future. 

So who are these people?  Publicity for these, or rather of these folks, could be key to widespread acceptance.  (So long as that publicity does not interfere with their work) 

This could be a contribution made by regular joe's; the nontechnical.   


Who are the top minds currently dedicating their time to the bitcoin project? Who are the best of the best currently dedicating their lives to the cryptocurrency space?

there has been no pressure!
only drama and only for those people who care about price only. people who want price to rise every day and expect to become rich the next morning they wake up.

and any project is only as good as the people working on it.

true but not all. there are a lot more factors determining how good or bad a decentralized thing as big as bitcoin is.

So who are these people?

maybe it is just me but i disagree with this.
it should not matter who is working on bitcoin much. what should matter is what bitcoin is and what they are contributing/changing.

But you can't take just this list of 5 today. Bitcoin has been around for 9 years, there have been many more who have contributed to growing and maintaining Bitcoin since Satoshi sent the white paper.

He is an early promoter of bitcoin development and also a joint founder of blockstream.
Pieter Wuille is a person who had actively contributed his time and helpful ideas to bitcoin.

You probably already know this, but just incase you don't I'll mention Satoshi Nakamoto who is, in fact, the founder of Bitcoin. Nick Szabo was the creator of Bit Gold which failed, but is probably the inspiration for Bitcoin in the first place.
