I'm wondering how to choose a good passphrase for a wallet to be created by Armory.

If the passphrase will frequently be used on-line, therefore potentially exposed to keyloggers and other threads, then maybe an on-screen keyboard could be of use to make it harder to steal the passphrase.

But that also makes it harder to type it in.

So how long is long enough for the passphrase?

Sorry if this has been explained at length before, but the 90sec lockout for searches does not make it particularly easy to search this forum.

Basic password common sense applies to Armory, as to any other things which require a password. Do a web search on password security if you want to learn more.

Private keys should be created and remain offline if you want to enjoy the security Armory offers. This is the first and most important step when it comes to securing bitcoins.

If you aren't the sole controller of your private keys, you don't have any bitcoins.
