Australia has placed the country’s cryptocurrency suppliers under the supervision of its financial intelligence unit, which will help reduce the risk of money laundering, terrorist financing and cybercrime.
The Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (AUSTRAC), the country’s financial intelligence agency, has approved a Blockbid application in accordance with the new regulatory powers. Blockbid is only the third company granted permission to legally operate as a cryptocurrency exchange. The previous two AUSTRAC license recipients are Independent Reserve and CoinSpot.
