It's a quickest and easiest way of distribution, unfortunately almost always connected with SCAM. Basically it's to lure investors to buy after hits exchanges and pump&dump after that.

Be extra careful with giving your details, if you really need make sure your passwords are strong on email and forum passwords can't be the same.

My forum account was hacked within 24h after I participated in AirDrop, that was first and last time I joined AirDrop.
Strongly not recommend.

I see too much airdrop altcoin in this forum and it mostly just triggers spam, and even they also take advantage of those moments to make fraud.
I think moderators need to be wiser in this regard
its not triggers spam, most of it are legit. It is triggering for many buyers for every tokens, so first to have a many buyers so must make some bait like airdrop to get them.

That's why you need to be very careful on where you sign-up. And if you enter your email, at least have some security features activated so even if they try to hack your email, they need to crack first that security feature.

Sometimes, I just let airdrops passed if my gut feel says that it's a potential scam to collect your data. And because it's the hype nowadays and they know a lot of gullible people here just sign-up without even thinking, they try to lure you with free tokens. Sometimes I saw that a certain individual mistakenly give his eth private key instead of eth address. That's too bad.

Airdrop is another way to promote coins and attract more people to participate due to it's non-restriction / low restrictions. Anyway just participate in FREE airdrops , but yeah some airdrop seems suspicious because they ask for little amount of ETH with no concrete roadmap or plan. One of few great Airdrop that pass was Postoken , deeponion. Just be cautious when joining one.

the fact that there are too many airdrops going on cannot make us conclude that many of them are scam, afterall i have seen some great airdrop like Postoken and Deeponion. it is the responsibility of the bounty hunter to duly check the airdrop info before joining the airdrop. however i think this is increasing as the year is gradually ending even bounty campaign have been on increase. not all this ICO are legit but there will still be great one out of many.
it is true that more and more ICO and Airdrops are arriving will further trigger the scammers to join and among them is very detrimental. so we must really be able to choose which one will be able to be light in the future.

Airdrop is decentralized marketing.
It wouldn't be logical to use google ad campaign to promote a decentralized app, would it be ?
