I think you can write this pretty simply yourself. Use the live updating data from preev for btc if needed. You can pull that info and send it as a notification to your own email or use a service for sms'ing it to yourself. Also one other thing is that if you simply search btc to usd on google, you should be able to get a quick update directly on the browser.

Awesome! I will definitely look into this. That would totally be a great way to know prices on the fly.
I just hope it isn't too complicated, as I am not really a coder or even an enthusiast when it comes to coding and doing such stuff.
But I will definitely try it and I hope I do get it to work.

Wow This is awesome. It is of a great use for almost all of us who can't manage to sit all the time in front of a computer system to look at the crypto prices for the purpose of trading. 
I will definitely look for it in the future as currently I don't have enough investment in trading and alts, I have a very little value holdings of the alts but still i think it will be helpful.

Yes, as the second person said, Preev can be a tool for that, though I’m not sure if they offer anything like price alert. But at least, one good thing about them is that their price is always accurate. Even mobile wallets like Coinbasecan do such, but the way it works is a little different. That one you have to set a particular amount to be alarmed for.

Why don't you use app/widget that updates automatically every hour/minute? bitcoin checker is a nice app, check it out! anyways if you still want to get an email or sms every hour, i recommend you to code a php script and run a cron job.
