Thanks for all the suggestions!

I find it interesting so many of you recommend localbitcoins/OTC or making personal contacts through the forums. I'll have to give these routes a try when I next look to trade. Trust is still an issue, especially for larger transactions.

I've tried localbitcoins.com but no one has gotten back too me. Would anyone recommend buying coins off forums instead? I prefer not to deal with exchanges because I don't see the need to give out some personal information just for some virtual currency  Grin

OTC of the form marketplace both work, just use escrow for large transactions.

Any suggestions for an easy way to escrow?

I'm also wondering the same thing.  Is there a exchange similar to bitfloor?  I mean as in I can go to the bank and deposit cash that is credited to my account?  I think bitinstant has a $500 limit.

I used localbitcoins yesterday with no problems.  Highly recommended.

Hi guys!

Although I've only just registered, I've been reading the forum for months and bought my first bitcoin around October 2012.

So far I've used Bitstamp to buy all my bitcoin and can recommend them: no hassles and a friendly responsive support.  Smiley

I used Transferwise to move cash from the UK and they were good too, until they turned their back on BTC.  Sad

What's been your experience buying bitcoin?

Bet you regret not buying more bitcoins during 2012...

Localbitcoins is the way forward, peer 2 peer at its best, eliminating any of the "3rd parties"... if you are looking to buy, hit me up, I am always selling on this platform  Smiley
