Why different crypto currency, which one is reliable

As I stated learning about bitcoin , I have found that there are a lot of other crypto currencies like Bitcoins. I am wondering why we have many types of crypto currency, who regulates all these currencies, are they exchange able ?

Those are very good questions. I'm also interested in understanding more.. from what I know they aren't really well regulated and that's presenting some challenges as countries try to wrap their heads around & get involved in this.

The value, the way, the origin and the history of each one are included in every question here in the forum and on all the pages related to them, only by reading and expanding your knowledge of what is it can give you more "know" all about coins.

These other coins are so-called "altcoins".

These altcoins simply exist because there is a demand and a market for it. Most altcoins fullfill some usecase, think about things such as video sharing, hosting files, super computing, gambling coins/tokens, the list goes on and on.

who regulates all these currencies

Most of these coins have a dev team behind it, working on improving the infrastructure of the coin. They're usually the ones who "regulate"/decide what happens with the coin.

are they exchange able ?

Most of these altcoins are listed on exchanges, yes. See both http://poloniex.com and http://bittrex.com , not all of them are going to be on them, but alot of good ones will. See http://coinmarketcap.com to find out where the coin is listed.

the most reliables are the one's with the highest number of users/adopters I'd say.. and that's at the moment Bitcoin. The less "valuable" a currency, the less users it has and the more likely it might be some sort of scam. If you are new to cryptocurrencies better to start with the mainstream coins, BTC, ETH etc. after learning something about them you can get involved in more "risky" and complicated concepts.

Every one think that by creating their own coin one day their coin value will reach the new skies and thus will help them to become billionaire in coming time. Or if some features is being lacked in some other coin they try to bring in their coin an added feature.

different crypto currency  : they are called altcoin. each one of them is independent from the other in term of : value, the way, the origin, the price of buy and sell. and wish one is the most reliable for me it is ethereum because it is not so expensive like Bitcoin so you can invest well in it
