Myetherwallet its a web wallet that can only receive ethereum based tokens so if the airdrop project you are supporting and will get its tokens is based on ethereum they will mention it and you can send them to myetherwallet, otherwise you might need to download the project wallet and get your address and send tokens to there, alternativly if the token is listed in an exchange you can register and get your address there (many people dont like to hold their tokens in exchanges though).

If it is indeed based on ethereum you just need to give your ethereum address from myetherwallet and it will show up there without the need to add the custom token.

I will answer first that you should add the custom token to be appeared on your balance or tokens.
You will receive a token from airdrop even without a custom token address etc.  you need to click and check it on etherscan or ethexplorer on your wallet on myetherwallet.

If the airdrop is for an Erc20 token, then you can use myetherwallet's address. However, if it's not based on ethereum blockchain, you'll have to download their special wallet first. Then give them that address.
