I think the reason is very simple.
It concerns the publicity and privacy.

I did hear that  the name Satoshi Nakamoto is a pseudo name and not necessarily a real person assumed to be really existing. I also believe the name was coined out to at least give credit to someone for the launch of this project! And on the other way round if he/she is really existing and hiding for reasons best known, thumbs up!

Of course he is hiding, he is afraid the safety of his life, his family, and his relatives. Try to put on his shoes, you will fear for your life everyday because tons of people knows that you have billion of dollars in Bitcoin waiting to be spent. This is one of the reasons why the one who got rich by Bitcoin isn't telling anyone about it, they prefer to keep their mouth silent.

There may be other reasons. What if bitcoins were created to create capital outflows from the American economy. Maybe bitcoin is an explosion that is planted under the country's economy. If so, I understand why the name of the creator of bitcoin is carefully kept.

I don't think he is hiding, he is dead. My take is that he, satoshi, was the late Hal Finney. At least Hal Finney knew more then he was willing to share. Why not tell? well sometimes you just move on, get other intreast and he did not want to deal with all the media fuzz.
