These CPU's are supposed to be good bang for the buck.  Anyone know something good to mine with it to help recoup the cost of the Threadripper?

I'd most likely avoid anything that already has a GPU miner made for it. With the exception being probably Monero.
It's still a solid coin to mine with a CPU. It is also the only popular/successful coin that is still CPU-profitable.
I am not aware of other decent CPU-only coins though, so I'll let someone else fill that spot.

Thanks.  It's weird that I cannot find any guides on hash rates with the Threadripper.  Anyone else mining Monero with it?

 I don't remember WHERE I saw them mentioned specifically though - servethehome's "monero" thread perhaps?
