Any checklist on how to write a great whitepaper for a new token?

What should / shouldn't be there?
latex/markdown format?
where to publish it? pdf online on custom url or github repo?

anything else?

thanks

If you are not lazy, virtually every project that comes out on a daily basis on the announcement sub-section of the forum have whitepaper attached to it even those that have been successful and those that are otherwise. All you need to do is to download tons of them and start your review from there but I suggests you streamline the ones you want to use as a model before you start. On the right format to publish, I don't think there is a generally acceptable way to make that happen but in your review, you can get a clue about what is expected by the community.

There are two types Whitepaper, simple whitepaper and detail whitepaper, for a simple whitepaper example you can see https://bitcoin.org/bitcoin.pdf

and for detailed whitepaper see this https://bravenewcoin.com/assets/Whitepapers/monaco-whitepaper.pdf

do your research

Take your time and write as complete as possible whitepaper without grammatical or semantic mistakes from the start. That way it looks much more professional. In my opinion the whitepaper should be a document which includes all detailed information about your project. That being said write a good conclusion for lazy people who don't want to read Smiley You can use the same conclusion to create ANN for this forum.

On my personal opinion,  I think that a good white paper should be technical, but created in a way that simplifies the information, so that a regular joe can get a feel for, and be able to grasp the concept, and ideology of whatever it is, that is being presented.
A white paper should contain the essential details, portraying the dynamics of said projects ecosystem. If the white paper is for an ICO, the paper should portray a neat, and easily understable presentation, depending on what (whatever the concept), and who (audience/ demographic), it is your trying to pitch to.
You should always include a roadmap, outlining the predicted timing of your goals, any credentials that you or team posses, because this creates a sense of transparency (however minute). It should be clean and neat, and if your feeling creative,  add some pizzazz to the format, and layout of your presentation.
A white paper should be readily available, and open source option (give it away for free).
The paper doesn't always have to be inticing, but should contain a bit of allure, and should capture the reader's attention, as well as hold it.
Last but not least, try to describe your concept using visuals, like graphs, charts, etc. If you don't have any imagery,  then you create some, using unique word structures, allowing the imagination of the reader to perceive, and get a visual idea of what it is your describing, especially if you don't have a working model, or proof of concept to present.

Just my two cents!

You must use clear and understandable language. And you have to use constructive language to attract interested investors. And the core of the whitepaper is the goal of the project you created. Explain in detail to make your whitepaper more detailed and good. Use pdf To be easy to open in mobile Phone

Here are a few links to well done white papers
https://nem.io/wp-content/themes/nem/files/NEM_techRef.pdf
https://ark.io/Whitepaper.pdf

In my mind the key elements that comprise a good white paper are

1. overview of technology
2. discussion of use cases
3. roadmap for future development
4. description of team and biographies
5. references to substantiate the technical points
6. discussion of what makes the currency unique - what is the value proposition?

Latex is preferred due to the professional grade typesetting, but not essential.

Dont do it, hire someone who has experience doing it and pay him a good amount of money, you are going to run a well managed project right? so invest some money on it and make it run smoothly, ask him to create a nice whitepaper that is very attractive and eye-catching for investors, so they will feel tempted to try your bussiness and by this way they will probably invest in this one.
it is just a suggestion, dont do it by yourself because a lot of people will criticize your project.

The important thing to remember, a lot of the whitepaper in this time has made without trying to determine the structure of the whitepaper itself, and especially the content is not suitable in my opinion.
For the more explanation about the whitepaper and why don't you just try to visit the google and try to search them all, You must know this not the correct place to learn about the whitepaper.
But if you are not know how to made a good whitepaper and why will you want to run ico I meant another future shit token or money grabber.
This means you don't have any knowledge about that.
investopedia and wikipedia seem to provide very good material for you to learn how to build whitepaper.

You should probably go the paid route and get a professional do one for your project. I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't know your writting skills but if you need to ask how to create a whitepaper and you want the best for your project the best thing you could do is hire a good guy to make it. If you do it though, you should make it technical but don't over do it because a good whitepaper should pass its information and be understood by common people.

In my mind the key elements that comprise a good white paper are

4. description of team and biographies

Is the team in the whitepaper really that important (to you)? I'd rather mention them on a webpage with a short description and link to linkedIn rather than in the whitepaper.

The NEM whitepaper is a technical reference, it is IMHO way too technical to be considered as a standalone whitepaper. Just a few technical people would want to read it Smiley
Neither the NEM nor ARK documents you mentioned have the Team section.

Thank you for your reply!

Why so aggresive? Smiley
I'm just asking about people's opinion about what they want to have or miss in a whitepaper.
There is a lot of crypto whitepapers out there and a lot of stupid articles and blogs about how to write them.
Asking the community as one source (and not the only one) of information is a part of research.

This means you don't have any knowledge about that.

And people are born with that kind of knowledge or they read and ask to learn it?
I'm reading and asking to learn as much as I can about the topic. Thanks for being helpful.

You should share a lot of details about your coins and what makes in unique! The people want some unique projects. You also should have a look at some successful projects, maybe you can find some examples!

In fairness to @shinratensei_, he is not aggressive dude, we just hate people come here and asking questions that obviously they can answered it if they just used their better judgement. There's also a search button if I'm not mistaken. And we don't have to spoon feed everyone. Just do your own research and I think you should be fine.  Smiley

I think there's no universal format, but as what other have said, just stay to the point and explain what makes your coin unique and different from all the existing coins in the market. And don't go too technical because most of us here are not. Just used 'layman's term' so that we can fully understand about the coin and the direction of the project.
