That's what you do not do because you will not receive BTG in your wallet. All you have to do is to have holders of bitcoins during fork and when you have no hold you will not receive. It is better to have a hard fork to sell Bitcoins or to wait for a hard fork before you sell

But I thought you only needed the BTC on 25th of october, but they already hit their goal and made a snapshot already, so I thought I'd get my BTG in my wallet nonetheless on 1st of November, but was just asking to make sure.

Just to be sure, wait until October 25 ends, that's less than 2 days of waiting. After that, you can then.enjoy selling your bitcoins and you are sure that you can get your free bitcoin gold, (manually or automatically depending in your wallet).

Hi

It doesn't matter if you remove from the hardware wallet now. Bitcoin Gold is restarting the blockchain at the Snapshot Block and then mining until November 1 privately for testing. They could not encode replay protection until after the split because it would interfere with the fork. I removed my BTC from hardware wallet and am keeping the keys handy until BTCGPU gets the website back up and launches next steps for BTG wallet. We can retreive BTG with private keys since it's a clone of the blockchain at snapshot block.

Of course not Smiley). If you wanna receive BTG you should keep your Bitcoin till the hard fork over and it's the same with the before hard fork on 1st August when you want to receive Bitcoin Cash you need to keep your Bitcoin till the hard fork over and your Bitcoin must stored in a wallet that supported the hard fork. As I know Bittrex announced that they will support the upcoming hard fork so I think you should keep your Bitcoin on Bittrex and sell it when the hard fork over Cheesy

To be sure, check the website of your wallet, there should be some official announcement. AFAIK, the snapshot of the blockchain has already been taken so there should not be any problem to sell your btc now.

If you know when the fork is going to actually happen, you can sell immediately after the block is mined.

BTG will be available in your wallet if, your wallet supports it and if you have any BTC in that wallet!
So you shouldn't sell your BTC, unless you need the money you are receiving from it.
No BTC means no BTG, because the fork is happening in BTC blockchain, therefore a copy from BTC with its new variances!

I think you have to claim your BTG first. I would suggest waiting until then to be sure. I also would wait a few days after the fork to do anything because there seems to be a lot of uncertainty about how everything will work. It’s also very possible that the BTG isn’t going to be worth very much anyway so it may not really matter.
