Question about CPU mining Vertcoin

I'm attempting to CPU mine Vertcoin with an i7-3770 and I'm only getting around 4kh/s.

Is this to be expected or should I be trying some different settings? Seems a bit low.

I'm using the following to launch the CPU version of cgminer modified for Vertcoin (http://kilovolt.co.uk/Vertcoin/VertCoin-CGMinerCPU-Aleks_N.zip)

cgminer -G --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://eu.bitcrush.info:3444 -u user -p pass

you should get around 25 kh
