GPU Power Draw? From PCI riser or direct?

I was running some nvidia 1070 ti's and (mistakenly) ran the power on a single connector through the PCIe riser cards. The socket on the PSU ended up burning out, but now I'm wondering, where does the power mostly draw from on the GPU's? The PCI risers or the back end of the GPU? I wasn't aware that very much power was being drawn from the riser cards...

6-pin PCI-e Power cable is rated for 75 watts/13 amps, the same amount given by the PCI-e lane on the motherboard

Molex is rated for 132 watts/11 amps

SATA is rated for 54 watts/4.5 amps. - Do not convert from SATA to Molex/6-pin, this will cause an overdraw and could result in a fire

the PCI Express power connectors on the graphics card. There are two types of power connectors:
6-pin: this power connector can provide up to 75 watts
8-pin: this power connector can provide up to 150 watts

I did not remember the power draw of 1070ti, but for all the rigs you have, you should read above, understand and do the adjustments
I used to have 1 sata cable delivering power to 3 risers, and my system was very unstable, now I know that if you use sata cable to power your rise, it's better to have only 1 connected
If you have molex cable to power your rise, it's way better
