If they went forward with it right away I think it would have had a shot to be successful but confidence is broken at this point. If the fork happens I'll be converting my segwit2x coins to BTC.

With your stash on the line they should be afraid.

I don't think it will happen especially after reading some tweets by Peter Todd. 2x has some technical issues that still haven't been resolved. If they had everything ready in time it would've happened already.

Exactly that is what the email from coinbase stated. Even though the community leaders withdrew their plans to go ahead with the fork, there may be a small number of miners who may try to go ahead with the fork.
