Question: We all know 90% of cryptos are based on Etherium however when EOS becomes mainstream is it possible for the Etherium based cryptos to migrate over to say EOS or will they still stay Etherium based?

Absolutely.... companies will choose the chain that works best for them. Just like I believe it was AdEx who switched from Ethereum to NEO.

However, Ethereum is coming out with some updates, so if those match or surpass what EOS offers, it is doubtful they would change.

It's like a Battle of Blockchains, USA vs RUSSIA, Larimer vs Butarin, Rocky, Part XXXIIII...hahaha
