Hi,

Please consider me novice in assembling the hardware. I have couple of questions regarding AsRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0 motherboard:

1a) Can I directly attach the LCD on the COM port of the motherboard (H81)?. Do I need to put in the video card on motherboard or is that built-in on the motherboard? Note: I want to do that for pre-mining setup/testings.

1b) If above is possible, then, can I continue with this setup for mining?

2) Can I setup Windows 10 on the HDD that is already installed on some other desktop and then remove that HDD and port the same HDD on my H81 mobo (rig)?

Looking forward and thanking you in anticipation.

Regards,

Rizwan

My modus operandi is the following:

1) I attach the mobo just to the psu + monitor + hdd (monitor obviously on the integrated video card)

2) I then set on the BIOS what i need

3) Then I install the OS on the hdd (Ubuntu)

4) Final step: I attach all the gpus with the risers.

My answer to your questions.

1a) You cannot connect monitor into com port. But you can connect the monitor directly to the motherboard with other 2 ports. There are two ports that can be connected  HDMI and D-sub (https://imgur.com/a/yCYuE).

1b) Yes, you can if you connect everything right.

2) If another motherboard is the same ASRock H81 PRO BTC R2.0 then there is no problem.

Best practice is to make windows configuration on one ring and then clone the hard drive. Then the cloned hard drive you can put on another motherboard with no problem. But the motherboard should be the same as you cloned.
For cloning software, I can suggest Macrium Reflect or Clonezilla. But you can use any software you like.
