Cryptocurrency this is no ordinary Fiat. Here the classic laws of Economics don't work. Strategy investing in various Fiat to minimize the risks of investments in base currency will not help. Bitcoin is the world's number one crypto. When it is cheaper then pulls down all altcoins. What is the point to invest in them for a long time? Bitcoin is the most popular and reliable of all cryptocurrencies. Invest in it.

Here is what I would do with $800,000 is I wanted to invest it all in cryptos...

First off, you have a higher chance to make the most money by investing in altcoins, although that takes hundreds of hours of research, or even thousands, whereas coins such as Bitcoin and Ethereum are much safer options because they are proven to be legit, and also offer the possibility to make huge multiple in the not-so-distant future. Therefore, I would put $600-700k into BTC and ETH and play around with $100k or so in altcoins which you deem worthy of investing in after much research. Hope you get some help from this advice. Considering the increasing number of better competitors venturing into cryptocurrency, i believed alts is the way to go, scaling BTC for price correction and dips require some solid expertise which is not an investment i think, but a full time job to cope with its volatility and it's not fun to adapt such strategy for a long time, as for alts, some projects are seriously meant to be success, it's just about time if you consider the product/services created and values that they could provide. Some 'blue-chip' coin aren't really one considering their current market cap, which is far less than any success organization today from other industry.
This huge money and it need a plan for investment. I will suggest you to make  a proper plan and invest these money in bitcoins and some altcoins whose rate are good like etherum. If you can invest these money with proper plan then you can earn triple time more money.

Hi all.

First, congrats on creating such an amazing resource for the rest of us newcomers. I’ve spent weeks reading.

Crypto currency is quickly gaining traction and to those who understand it, it’s obvious that it’s only a matter of time before the institutional banking systems of the world must confront it: either fight it, or integrate it. Integration can be taxed and regulated. With CME’s pending futures offering, VISA/MC facilitating its use, mainstream media’s positive coverage, and trusted brokerages adding it to their asset class investment options, it looks like integration in the US is the route. As is said, so goes the US, so goes the world.

Still, while perhaps 30% of people have heard of bitcoin, 99.5% aren’t yet invested. As you know, this is an expected pattern of technology adoption and maturitization, known as Gardner’s Hype Cycle.  And as an investor, provided integration continues, this suggests to me that there is an enormous amount of upside potential.

This is my question: At this still early stage, volatility considered, how would the experienced investors of this group invest a large sum of money, i.e. $800,000USD? Diversification among alts? Scaling into BTC during the price corrections and dips?

My strategy is long-term, 1-10 years, more if warranted. I think in the near future this will be a question asked by many. Thank you.

$ 800,000 is a big money, if you invest effectively you will get a lot of money.
I can only advise you not to invest 1 kind of coin, first is still BTC, then you can invest in some other altcoin. I know you want to invest in the long term, so you need to find coin have good technology and big community. Good luck!

All i can say is perfectly nice investing money with bitcoin. But for me at huge amount of USD 800,000 could be a hard decision if your money borrowed from banks. Thats gonna be a win win situation investing with atleast 10 years. You never know the possiblity of bitcoin ends. Much better if you invest with a small amount avoiding depts strategy.

I do trust bitcoin but for security measures as we do not know what might happened tomorrow. I never borrow money to someone or lend from creditcard or to bank just to buy a coin. Better stay with small money without any debts and worry.

It is right to hold bitcoin coming from your own money than to have debt just to make sure you hold bitcoin because in this kind of market risk is every where. Investing that big amount of money will surely make money for you if bitcoin succeed in the future but to lessen the risk don't put everything to bitcoin do more a lot of research before you trade.

$800,000 is a lot of money. If you invest that much then be ready to be in a really rollercoaster of a ride! Depending on when you invested, you'll surely feel your heart drop if prices suddenly dump and likely your heart will pound when prices go up! But when it goes up and you did not sell you will also feel bad. That's the thing with volatility, it's pretty much a roller coaster of emotions!

I would invest 80% of that directly into Bitcoin <BTC> Why? Well, because Bitcoin is currently being used to fork other coins and every time they do this, you get free coins to sell. Do not store your BTC on third party services, because it is not guaranteed that these companies would give you the free coins. <Long-term storage = multiple Paper wallets>

The other 20% can be divided into the investment of other high risk Alt Coins. <Ethereum / LiteCoin / Bitcoin Cash etc.> Just check which of these coins are being pumped and buy low and sell high. ^smile^

Instead of dreaming one bitcoins to this much value you can invest some funds to bitcoin related platform and makes money out of it. I am you make more bitcoins with mining platform. Try to buy two ASIC miner and start mine bitcoin you will be able get the returns in 6 months and you can make more money in further days and months. Volatile nature will cnever come in this investment at all.

your target is up to 10 years? well you are lucky if you alive in 10 years, $800,000 that's a big amount if you to invest only bitcoin, just divide your money to invest other altcoins I suggest to invest in ethereum, litecoin, bitcoin cash and maybe ripple. Just invest that has potential coin to increase.

How you dealing with your needs in 10 years ? People have needs that need to solve. That's why things are complicated with people .
This is very big amount if you can invest them in some coins like in bitcoin and ethereum then you can make more and more profit from this money but you should need enough experience that how to invest your money and how it can be handle.

I'm not a professional investor, but merely a small time trader. However, I would use the bulk of it to buy bitcoin, and invest the rest into alts when the dip comes, since it is highly likely bitcoin will go on a bull run, and alts will crash anytime soon.
