Seems so easy to get lost in our own little worlds of personal greed and forget what bitcoin is really all about.

It is all about rewritting the failed experiment of western consumerism.

It is all about a true global community without borders and central government oppression.

Bitcoin is already a global currency, just the first one. Which is showing humanity there is another way to live other than under wasteful  military and central banking adventures.

I think we can really say that whenever money is the topic, greedy people will be always around the corner to snoop in. You can't just clean this forum with the people like that, as you can see the forum is becoming popular, it's just, it is popular because of how you can earn money in here not because it is all about bitcoin which is said to be the father of all crypto currency.

Yes i think it is just more than a currency because people treat it as their daily income and they get money from it, and then as theybise bitcoin they also internalize what they do,and the big group of companies are treating bitcoin as a help.

Yes Bitcoin is indeed more than just a currency!

It is a digital payment system - a hassle free payment system wherein you can pay your bills online.

It is a medium of exchange - lots of people and store now are accepting Bitcoin as payment for products and services availed.

It is a store of value - it started at a very cheap price and now a Bitcoin costs around $7800. The market is very volatile.

It is a unit of account - retailers are accepting Bitcoin as their unit of account when selling something.

It is a foreign exchange - Bitcoin can be exchange into different currencies given that the buyer is willing to exchange it to their fiat money.

These are the basic characteristics of Bitcoin. There many more characteristics that can describe it but these are the most common and most important. As time goes by, Bitcoin will definitely evolve more into something more useful and more valuable to humankind.

Those are what it's for, initially. You're not going to find many people here who actually, genuinely care about those, though. They may mention them in passing when talking about the advantages of Bitcoin, but are actually around for the money. It's pretty hard to blame them, either, because Bitcoin has been synonymous with massive returns for a while now. The only reason it's currently as big and as popular as it is is because of these investors. But hey, if Bitcoin can still achieve these ideals in the end, then it's not so bad, right?

totally agreed, it is more than what it have become, bitcoin is mostly used as an currency or asset, you can call it greed or need for the ones who are using it,many of users it as a side payment tool to fulfill their extra needs which is not being fulfilled by their regular earnings,new user base increase in this forum mostly belongs to this type of community,some save it to use it later when they need it.i think its totally fine to use however they want,everything can not be enjoyed or used same way as other ,maybe big reforms or powerful people use it in different way than the normal people around the world.

I think we have already made some progress to improve "Western Consumerism" because most people are hoarding their bitcoins. <this encourage a saving culture and less people are spending their money on worthless consumer items>

We will never get rid of the influence of governments. <That is just a pipe dream> If Bitcoin becomes 100% anonymous and unregulated, it will die a quick death. <Most countries will ban it>

Bitcoin also disrupted some of the traditional financial systems, for example : Banks & Remittance services.

Yeah we can't do anything about greedy people and it's true that there's no way we can filter those kind of people in this community. But we cannot really blame people for being here for the sole purpose of earning through services. Besides, we have Services section in this forum that's why they're here. Maybe let's just be happy and contented with the fact that they are also gaining more knowledge not just about bitcoin but the whole cryptocurrency. This forum maybe dedicated for bitcoin community but like anything else in this world we learn to adapt.

Sure enough and I think it's perfectly fine to work it for some profit.
What is objectionable is the greedy shenanigans like we just saw from the bicoincash forkster/scamster antics.
Roger Ver and his crew have foverever lost their integrity and any good repution they might have had by being greedy.
It is fascinating to see how bitcoin effectively cleans itself up by weathering these attacks.
We can expect more of these attacks and likely worse from fearful small minded governments.

The reality is that bitcoin opens new opportunity not just for regular folks but the likes of Visa and similar institutions by openning access to billions more people.

Along with expected attacks there will be unexpected embracing of bitcoin.

Since the internet is basicaly owned by 5 US corporations who are actually NSA&CIA it would not surprize me to suddenly see the USA embrace decentralized crypto  currencies.
Likely the only way they can get out of the 20 trillion dollar jam up they have at the Federal Reserve.
We are entering very new cultural possibilties, as the old ones are very clearly not sustainable. It is happenning pretty fast too.

Bitcoin has adopted a fast growth in short period of time. It is digital currency more than that it is a good investment, we don't want to depend upon anybody, seems like our own bank though which we can achieve all our goals.

Ypu can't really blame people if they're veering away from bitcoin's original purpose. There's profit in bitcoin and probably in due time we'll see it mainly as a way to do better transactions. For now, its going to be for profit and it's value. That aspect made bitcoin popular as well to other people

I answer it yes!this forum is really about bitcoin and not at all talking about investment and trading currency its also developed your personality of being an entrepreneurs and good community servant.bitcoins is not only about currency and business talking its also help developed a social awarenes of enviromental protection by preserving mother nature and how they do it, mostly ICO campaign sponsored some enviromental works,or other institution to help those poor people need help.
