Interesting that it's going to ship October, one month after Saturn and Jupiter.

Feeling generous? Like my post? Leave a tip at BTC: 1NZJ8cceqEiKDZGAJged2vNGCyfFMUEYPt

If they ship and your in Europe it might be great.  If you are state side, you have customs, international shipping and the time that it takes to clear customs, which could be anywhere from a week to who knows how long.  I have head of stories of BFL products going from the states to Europe taking a month.

If this Mercury is $2k, what will they call a smaller $500-1k unit?  Does this suggest they aren't going any smaller  Embarrassed

That would depend on if they are going to use the 28nm asic they are presently talking about. They could shut down some of the engines in it to make a 50 gh/s unit, but the chip is presently supposed to put out 100 GH/s. The Mercury would be a 1 chip unit at the 100 GH/s rate. If KNC is real, I hope that they will just stick to their present units and not become bogged down with 4 or 5 devices which could slow production.

I used the UPS quote/calculator thing today and to ship 1x unit of Mercury from Sweden to Australia would cost me $550+ USD for shipping alone... that is not with any other fees or GST (which is payable on good purchased and imported to Australia over $1000 AUD)...

Sad

I'll just sit here in this dark corner of this technological wasteland of a country while ya'll make your BTC.

Given the problems with delays from BFL, I don't think I could ever pre-order hardware from any mining hardware company. I will stick with what is available right now.

Interesting... so there might be an opportunity for someone in the UK/Europe to host on behalf of the Antipodean cousins?

Currently KnC quote $172 for shipping a Mercury/Saturn/Jupiter to Australia
Previously before the design illustration changed it was $129
It looks like the dimensions and probably weight have increased.  Not that I care.  To me it's great sign as they must be getting closer to real product dimensions and specs.

BTW. I'm in Australia and I know that GST is payable on items over $1000, but not sure how this is applied to imported items delivered to the door.
Anyone from Australia have an idea?

Has anyone figured out if US residents will have to pay any duties or taxes for shipments from KNC?

I have no idea how they can pull that off. Do customers shipping lots of items get amazing discounts, or is the UPS calculator not worth a shit? Although A Mercury will apparently be 160 x 160 x 200 I put in 30x30x30 cm, I assume there will be some kind of things that need to go in the box, and of course packaging to keep it safe. (EDIT: I used the UPS quote site again... still over $400-500 for 16x16x20 cm... Huh)

I'll take their word for it that they can ship for that price, but I still don't have $2167 anyway.  Cry

Also is the price shown for the units on their site USD? I suppose they could be doing geo-ip nonsense and it's in AUD, to me it doesn't seem so hard for them to add the currency to the end of the price.

Yes it's in USD, I bought Saturn $3795 + $129 shipping = $3924.00 USD and converted $4166.62 AUD (1 AUD = 0.9417 USD) on 3-June
