Hi All,

First post here, trying to find my feet with BitCoin.

Installed Bitcoind for Ubuntu, but the commandline just hangs when I type 'bitcoind'. Just went onto https://multibit.org/ and there's gobbldygook on the screen.

Should BitCoin be easy to set up or does it take commitment in terms of time?

Thanks.

To answer my own question - yes, you should invest some time learning how to use Bitcoin! (sorry for being lazy Sad ).

Start here:

Bitcoin is a complicated technology, and it can take a while to wrap your head around how ingenious it is.  There are many people here to help, but they have also put in a lot of work already to explain things in detail.  Most questions have been asked before, and answered well.

Another new here too. I do not open a new thread, but use this existing one.

I started with installing bitcoin-qt on Linux Mint, and cgminer. Mined some coin, merge mained NMC as well. Learned stuff about various coins, bought some .bit domains for me, and like that.

As a nerd I find crypto money interesting. I hope I survive in this environment, so that I still have some real money left, after failed experiments with the ASIC world, now that GPU mining is futile. It feels that even the nevest ASIC devices will not pay ROI, as they are not delivered as promised, and the difficulty is just murder.

Welcome

soon ROI may be higher than lifetime of ASIC devices, but at least the bitcoin network will be protected with high hashrate  Grin
