NEW POLONIEX USER - WHEN YOU SELL BITCOIN - DOES IT GO TO CASH IN YOUR ACCOUNT

I'm brand new to bit coin.  I just set up a COINBASE ACCOUNT to buy bitcoin and keep in a wallet.  I am setting up a POLONIEX account because I hear that you can do day trading in that account but not in the coinbase account.

What I want to know is - with stock accounts - when you sell your stock - it goes to cash.
When you are in Poloniex - since you transfer bitcoins from Coinbase into Polomiex, when you sell the bitcoins - does it go to a CASH position ?   And then when you are ready to buy the bitcoins again you use the "cash" to buy the bitcoins ?

All of the web sites I looked at showed them buying other crypto-coins.  I just want to day trade the bitcoins - buy low - sell high.
