I forgot to add a transaction fee from a priv key I imported to my blockchain.info wallet.

Now it has 35 hours estimated but it has to be there within 24 hours or I lose the funds.

How can I get around this?

You can't, you just have to be lucky I guess. I had a transaction yesterday which said it would take upto 36 hours, but I have it confirmed now.
Apparently after a while it stops being relayed and just gets ignored so can't I just double spend it?

Why would you lose the funds?  You still have the private key, right?

new to bitcoin, but is there a time whereby any unconfirmed transaction will get cancelled and BTC return back to the sender's wallet?

It depends on the wallets that the sender and receiver are using.

With some wallets (such as blockchain.info) the wallet will stop broadcasting the transaction after a while and eventually the network will simply forget it existed.

With other wallets (such as Bitcoin-Qt) the wallet will continue to rebroadcast the transaction forever waiting for it to eventually be confirmed.

Its not going to my wallet, its going to a service that gets a new address for each deposit but they only last 24 hours. I've messaged them but their support is kinda shit

This seems to be happening a lot lately (or maybe I just noticed it because it happened to me yesterday).  Here are two other related threads:

When you said the network will simply forget it existed...so does it mean the BTC I tried to transfer will be lost forever?
Or I can import the key to some other wallet, it will show up again?  There is some real problem with blockchain lately and I have 3 out of 7 transaction getting stuck for over 24 hours even though I am giving 0.001 fee.

The network will forget the transaction, not the BTC.

It depends on the wallets that the sender and receiver are using.

You're question can't be answered accurately until we know exactly what wallet the sender is using, and what wallet the receiver is using.

The most likely possibilities:

Both wallets stop transmitting the transaction.  The number of bitcoins that the sender's wallet calculates and displays increases by the sum of bitcoins sent in the transaction to addresses outside the wallet plus the transaction fees.

One of the wallets continues to re-transmit the transaction on a regular basis.  The transaction remains waiting to be confirmed at some time in the future.

First off, let me say that if you are not in a hurry, I suggest you just wait. Eventually the transaction should go through or the coins should show up again in the wallet.

If you cannot wait, you can double-spend the coins with added fees, which should cause the new transaction to be included in the chain and reject the old one. However, please make sure you fully understand what you are doing!
