The Death of Humanity

Prologue

Hmmm... where to begin... I guess the beginning will suffice.

The year was 2030, technology was in yet another boom, smartphones that had once been the very edge of communication had become obsolete. The only company to survive the wash was a small Russian firm that had been working on experimental human implants. They had developed a series of small implants that humans could use as a smartphone immbeded on their napes, fingertips, ears and eyes. People no longer fussed about about download speeds, companies had developed what they refered to as NXG streaming. The speed was so outrageously high most content was streamed in 5D, the advent of these technologies had brought in much innovation, but many of the familiar sights in the cities had died off. Taking a loved one to watch the movies was a thing of the past, the old movie houses had finally been beaten. Some had tried to go into opera, but that had died an even faster death.

Unfortunately fossil fuels still held a large portion of our energy requirements, clean energy as a mainstay was still a pipe dream. Many ideas had been put forward but none had really yeilded fruit, some blamed funding issues and some blamed big oil companies. In one case a man was reported to have successfully driven his home-made water powered vehicle across Kenya, but that story dissappeared from the news cycles very quickly.

The youth were running the world now, in varying capacities men and women between the ages of 19 and 40 had become the most powerful people on the planet. The balance of power had shifted across continents in ways unforeseen. In Europe many economies had succumbed to recession and civil wars broke out, the wars were quick and very decisive, most governments were toppled and new leaders were chosen. The systems of communism and capitalism had failed separately, but a wave of scholars led by a German, Edward Weiss , had begun lecturing and promoting a blend of the two that gained the name "Weissisim". It spread like a plague, and during the "shift wars" as we began to call them, many countries re-drew their borders, some split up, but for the most part many became united. During all this scuffling my own country was saved from war but we suffered, there was hunger and disease at an unprecedented level. My father compared the horrors to that of when we were called the Soviet Union. He said that he was lucky to survive the first one, and lessons learnt during that time had driven him to the pinnacle of society.

In America democracy still held it's ground firmly, they had all watched in dismay as Europe evolved into a new beast, the new leaders did not respect or fear the might of the Americans. As Michelle Card became the first female president she had tried to co-erce some of the nations to stick to democracy, with almost catastrophic results, John Snow of England and Pierre Lucard of France had nearly declared war before the Americans' hasty retreat. Emboldened by the moves of Europeans, Asian countries saw changes in their own political systems, a coup in China and N.Korea saw full democracy being implemented there, much to the relief of Americans.

However their relief was short lived, seems the world always needs a twist. In an act of vengeance a scientist and a soldier in Pakistan shot an experimental thermobaric missile into the center of the American embassy killing nearly 200 people in an instant. American reproach was swift and very loud, as apologetic as the Pakistani's were, the war machine in America saw an opportunity and the rhetoric began to escalate. In yet another weird twist of fate, the President of India and the President of Pakistan were distantly related, seeing possible war and not wanting a foreign military presence in the region, talks began about forming alliances.

After the demise of the old guard, a new breed of African leaders had risen, with radical ideas and hopes of becoming powerful. One man stood out though, out of the ashes of his burnt out country he had led a revolution, Kagame Mutumwa, a Zimbabwean Army Chief, youngest in the world took the country in hours and had placed himself at the top. Using strict military conduct he had forged a new path, he envisioned his country as the America of Africa. In his first year he managed to form a federation of most of the Southern African nations. By the time western countries realized what he had done, their input was of little consequence. In a show of good will, he made visits to the United States, France, Germany and Russia. That was the first time i saw him and spoke with him. I was young then and my job as the President's son was to smile and wave while holding mothers' hand. Kagame was a man then and everyone loved him. As for my young mind, all i could think of was taking his son and daughter around the estate and show them around. My English was flawless though tinted by my Russian decent, i welcomed any chance i could get to speak the language of my nanny.

My name is Nikita Petrovich Zhelezkin, and this is the story of Kagame, the man who killed Humanity.
