Can someone explain?   Ask price is what the seller is asking.  Bid price is what the buyer is offering.  So why is it like this?

This shouldn't be possible, are you sure you are not mistaken? Bittrex matches orders instantly and so this can never happen in theory. I have noticed sometimes that bittrex struggles to keep up and the order books are displayed wrong but this is simply fixed by refreshing the page, have you tried that?

So you're saying theres never a time where the highest bidder and the highest ask have a gap between them?

Highest bidder  15000
Highest asking  14950 ?
