OK, here's the deal.  I blew up my motherboard while fiddling with my video card.  I had backed up my whole system and had my bitcoin in an encrypted folder by itself.
I transferred that encrypted folder to another computer that I am using now.  I have the bitcoin app running there.  There are no bitcoins showing up yet but it is still downloading the blockchain.
Is this a good idea just transferring the folder to another computer?
Will the bitcoins that were stored in the wallet on the old computer eventually show up on the new one?
Should I just keep running the bitcoin app on the new computer?

They will probably show up when the block chain finishes downloading.

Companies claiming they got hacked and lost your coins sounds like fraud so perfect it could be called fashionable.  I never believe them.  If I ever experience the misfortune of a real intrusion, I declare I have been honest about the way I have managed the keys in Casascius Coins.  I maintain no ability to recover or reproduce the keys, not even under limitless duress or total intrusion.  Remember that trusting strangers with your coins without any recourse is, as a matter of principle, not a best practice.  Don't keep coins online. Use paper or hardware wallets instead.

So everything should run as before by transferring bitcoin this way?
No rules of Bitcoin nature are being broken here?
