The contest is sponsored by Cavirtex which is the btc/ltc exchange in Canada.  They just want to spread the word about btc.  The first video was made by the there CEO.

I folllow the Cavirtex thread here on bitcointalk and just saw the contest a week or two ago.  Prize pool is 3btc now.
