I'm pretty happy to see BitConnect drop to #100 on CoinMarketCap, and hope to see it fall further. It's nice that some people are finally waking up and dumping scam coins like that. However... Bitcoin Gold is currently #15 overall and the best performing coin in the top 30. Why is anyone willing to throw money at a useless fork that has no purpose other than to grab a bunch of cash for the shady team behind it?

Because people like gambling while role-playing as savvy investors.

That's true. I often have to remind myself that crypto performance is based on the word of high-profile shills, get-rich-quick newbies, and market manipulating whales, not the coin itself.

While this trend will continue for some time, it's eventually bound to end (like BCC). At that point the valuations will briefly drop beneath the coin's fundamental value, creating further opportunities for rational investors. I just wish that we could get some statistics about the average ROIs and their distributions when that time comes. Too bad that data won't be obtainable.
