Japan has long been on the cutting edge of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency adoption. Not only do a few scattered shops accept BTC but the digital currency is legal tender in most of the country. Going a step further, the local Internet giant, GMO Internet Group announced plans to offer its employees part of their salaries in Bitcoin. We hope that other companies will follow in GMO’s footsteps.

This is not the first time that the Japanese giant excels at innovation in the area of cryptocurrencies. In October, GMO announced their plans to develop and sell a new generation of ASIC chips for mining Bitcoin. The company is set to produce 7nm chips for complex bitcoin mining operations — all funded through an ICO.

hmm this is very interesting and something that a lot of people would like to see happening.
i wonder is "the part" of their salaries the part that is left after tax is deducted?
i cannot imagine companies offering this without the government getting their revenue.
also that part payment in crypto could potentially be worth a great deal more in the future.

about income taxes and so on must have been considered by the company and government.
this is very good, Japan is always best in innovating. The open and visionary government's view makes it easy for Japan to adopt technological developments and make it profitable for the country and its people.

If I start to work remotely, I would totally accept be paying in Bitcoin. In most of the countries, Bitcoin worth more than the local money when compared to the dollar. If you receive using Paypal you will receive even less. With Bitcoin you could sell p2p for a lot more and do not need to tell about all the money to the government.
