BitStamp.net does not allow anyone to register using tormail account.

This is a bit disconcerting and I decided to send them an email and ask for official answer.

Hi there,

This email will be posted on bitcointalk.org.

As you are now in a fight for the bitcoin exchange market share, those of us who love our privacy would like to know why you block tormail in your registration?

Cheers

I personally think it is a bit strange as tormail if used properly, just like bitcoin, provides a good layer on anonymity.

Waiting response.

Dear Alex,

In order to provide the best possible security for our users' accounts certain email providers deemed not secure are not accepted as valid when registering an account. Tormail, as evidenced by recent developments, is such a provider.

If you should need any further assistance, please feel free to ask.

Best regards,

Marko Rogan

Maybe because they have to comply with Know Your Costumer policies...

I don't think they can have anonymous users...

Privacy and anonymity are different things, and they have to comply with privacy policies also, Facebook got into a lot of trouble in EU because of this, EU directives on data protection are quite rigorous and Bitstamp is an European company.
