z370 - gaming/workstation & in spare time mining

Hi all,

I am looking to build a work station/gaming pc with a z370 board (not sure which one yet/prob Asus Maximus X Hero) and a 8700k.

I understand this is massively over kill for mining, but it will meet my other needs with video editing etc and saves me buying two lots of hardware. I currently have a 1080ti and plan on buying a few more running them on risers outside the case. I can't find any info on how many gpu's this board will support for the reason people wouldn't usually use it to mine on.

the plan would be to get to 6 eventually.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Are there any particular features of the z370 chipset that you need?  I know that a number of people use this z270 model for mining with up to 7-8 GPUs:

That would not work with the i7 8700K, but it's one of the few higher end non mining specific motherboards that I know works with 6 or more GPUs.

Main reason really being that I am trying to make my system as future proof as possible and quick working with pro res media... I edit/render videos out for work & run graphics. This is the main purpose of the rig. I would push to x299 or thread ripper if my budget allowed however I don't think it will.
